Meet Dr. Dale Byrne
Besides having a chiropractic practice in Calgary since 2001, I have also been a frequent chiropractic patient.”
I have sought out chiropractic care for many ailments that include whiplash from motor vehicle accidents, back spasms, bulging discs, leg length inequality and many repetitive strain injuries. The reason for choosing to see a chiropractor for these many issues is quite simple; chiropractic works.
Why I Chose Chiropractic
I always knew I wanted to be a health care practitioner growing up but was not too sure in what discipline. Having family friends who were chiropractors, Dr. Tom Amaolo and Dr. Glen Amaolo, played a large role in my decision. They were there to answer any questions I had and act as mentors along the way. Having the ability to talk to them and be able to go in and first hand see them treat patients and help so many people, helped in making the choice to become a chiropractor.
A Chiropractic Education
Knowing that I wanted to enter the health field in some capacity, I concentrated my undergrad studies in subjects that would help me down the road. In earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Regina in 1996, I was able to choose from a large array of subjects including genetics, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry and anatomy that would create a foundation that would help further down the road. I was accepted to four different chiropractic colleges and ultimately made the decision to attend Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon beginning in September of 1996. By choosing to accelerate through the summers and not take much time off, I was able to complete my four year degree in just over three years and graduated from WSCC in December of 1999.
EXPLORE OUR SERVICES
On a Personal Note…
I am married to a wonderful woman and my best friend Jennifer and we have two children, Andrew and Avery. A lot of my free time is spent with them at our community’s lake, whether it be in the summer time in the water and at the park or in the winter time at the skating rink and on the tobogganing hill. I am a member of the Calgary Curling Club and play in a men’s league in the winter while in the summer time you can find me on one of Calgary’s or southern Alberta’s many golf courses. I also do volunteer work within our community at many of our community events as well as being involved as a head coach of my son’s Cal South Little League team.
For myself, wellness care is very important and I receive preventative chiropractic care about once a month. This allows me to stay relatively injury free and to help prevent old injuries from recurring. By keeping with this preventative care, should either an old injury flare up or a new injury happen, it will hopefully not be as serious as it could have been and resolve much quicker than if I had I not stayed on track with my wellness program. Even though I do not currently have a regular exercise or work out schedule, I try to stay active as possible. Chasing around after my children is a good start and by spending a day at the lake or the zoo or by just walking over to the neighbourhood park and playground it is a good way to remain active and promote a better lifestyle for myself.
